Leading Retrospectives

More organizations are realizing that teams need to step back and reflect in order to improve. Retrospectives provide a frame to help teams inspect, reflect, and adapt their methods, teamwork, and organizational relationships and continually improve.

Workshop Overview: This workshops covers a flexible framework that can be used for iteration, release, and project retrospectives. Participants will experience a retrospective on a small class project and will have the opportunity to orchestrate and lead a portion of a practice retrospective. Each participant will receive coaching feedback on their practice facilitation.

Audience: Agile coaches, facilitators, OD consultants, team leads and team members who wish to learn how to lead retrospectives.

Prerequisites: Comfortable working in front of groups. Able to read and adapt to what is happening in the room.

Workshop Duration: Two full days.

Day 1

  • Introduction
  • Class project and retrospective
  • A framework for tailoring effective retrospectives
  • Case studies for retrospective design practice

Day 2

  • Participant-led retrospective with individual coaching and feedback
